Montana Golf Academy

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR INTEREST IN MONTANA GOLF ACADEMY!  UNFORTUNATELY, DUE TO THE UNSTABLE ECONOMY HERE IN THE FLATHEAD VALLEY, THE MGA PROGRAMS ARE CURRENTLY ON HOLD.  PLEASE CHECK BACK AGAIN IN THE NEAR FUTURE AS WE ARE HOPING TO RESUME OPERATION IN THE SPRING OF 2010.  THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR INTEREST AND SUPPORT OF MGA.

About Montana Golf Academy

Montana Golf Academy is an after school program for K-6th graders designed to introduce kids to golf in a fun and exciting format.  Students will learn basic golf fundamentals as well as good sportsmanship, honesty and integrity.

There are eight levels to the Montana Golf Academy program.  Students will be evaluated throughout each session to “graduate” to the next level in the program.  At the beginning of each session, students will be given a nametag with a picture of the animal or bird that represents their level as well as a list of requirements on the back of the nametag they will need to meet or exceed to graduate to the next level.  The eight levels are Ram, Elk, Wolf, Grizzly, Falcon, Hawk, Osprey and Eagle.  Once a child reaches the Grizzly level they will be ready to step on the golf course with minimal supervision.  The animal levels were created to teach the basics of the golf swing while focusing mostly on form.  We also explore the rules and etiquette necessary to succeed on the golf course.  The birds of prey levels are designed to continue to develop the child’s golf swing as well as begin to focus more on results (i.e.: how many chips they can hit into the net instead of how well they are able to perform the swing).  We also continue to expand his/her knowledge of the game of golf spending more time on the proper way to play out of hazards, out of bounds, bunkers, etc.

There will be four sessions of MGA offered each school year, two before Christmas and two after Christmas.  The early fall and late spring sessions will most likely take place outside (on the field at the school) if weather permits and the two sessions in the winter months will most likely take place in the gym.

Once a child begins MGA we will start an individual file for them and track their progress through the program.  If a child signs up for a session in the fall and graduates from the Ram to the Elk level, they will start the next session at the Elk level even if they do not sign up again until the following year.

MGA also offers a number of summer programs available to all students, whether they have previous MGA experience or not.  Our basic MGA camp is 2 hours a day for 4 days in a row and is open to all students in grades K-6.  Our high school camp is 4 hours a day for 4 days and is open to students in grades 7-12.  We also offer a parent/child class on Thursday evenings in July for 1 hour each week.  Our final MGA camp is a grizzly on-course prep. camp for all those students who have graduated to at least the Grizzly level in the MGA after-school program.  For more information on any of our summer programs, click on the links above or send us an email.  If you would like to sign up for any of these camps on the web, click Buy Online.

3rd Annual MGA Scholarship Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, July 18th.  Format will be a 4-person scramble, so start getting your team ready today!  Click on the scholarship tourney link above for more information or to enter a team.

See you on the links!!
